Monument Mountain's Iusco Places Seventh at State Swim Meet

BOSTON, Mass. -- Monument Mountain's sophomore David Iusco medaled in the 500-yard freestyle at the Division 2 Boys State Swimming Championships on Saturday.
 
Iusco placed seventh with a time of 5 minutes, 4.38 seconds, shaving about three-10ths off his seed time and finishing 34 seconds behind winner Braedon Ando of Grafton (4:30.05).
 
Iusco also competed on Saturday in the 200 freestyle, where he placed 18th (1:54.19).
 
His teammate, Vincent Dragonetti, earned a team point in the 50-yard freestyle, placing 16th with a time of 22.86. Nicholas Cavic of Seekonk won the event in 20.85.
 
Dragonetti also swam as an individual in the 100 free, where he was 22nd (51.27) and swam a leg on Monument Mountain's 200 free relay quartet with Reece Faggioni, Isaac Shultz and James Tonetti.
 
The Spartans relay tied for 14th place to add to the team score.
 
As a team, Taconic placed 30th in the state with 18 points. Wayland won the event with 296 points.
