GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – The Pittsfield and Monument Mountain boys cross country teams each picked up a pair of narrow victories on Wednesday afternoon.

The Generals edged the Spartans by three points after Sam Glockner posted a 27th place finish overall but finished fifth in the teams’ dual meet to secure a 26-29 win.

For the host Spartans, Everett Pacheco ran the day’s fastest time, finishing in 16 minutes, 20 seconds, but Autumn Higa’s 29th-place finish ensured that Monument Mountain would edge Mount Everett, 27-30.

Mount Greylock’s boys and girls each went 3-0 in dual meets.

In the boys race, Mountie Rafa Mellow-Bartels finished second overall, 24 seconds behind Pacheco.

After Cohen Zahn and Eric Harrington took third and fourth, respectively, for PHS, Mount Greylock had the next four finishers before Mount Everett’s Ben Vella cracked the top 10 in ninth place.

Like Pacheco, Monument Mountain’s Amelia Desilets defended her home course with a first-place finish, hitting the finish line in 19:08.

She was followed by Mount Greylock’s Josephine Bay and Vera DeJong as the Mounties took seven spots in the top 10.

Pittsfield’s Yasmine Oubtrou placed fourth to help the Generals beat Mount Everett in their dual.
