Mount Greylock Girls, Boys Take Pair of Wins Apiece

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Madison Ross won four events, and Dagny Albano won a pair Monday to lead the Mount Greylock girls track and field team to a 73-68 win over Monument Mountain to cap an undefeated dual meet season for the Mounties.

Ross won the high jump, the long jump, the 100 and the 200.

In the 100, she clocked a time of 12.82 seconds to edge Wahconah's Ellie Clark (13.67). In the 200, Ross (26.71) again beat Clark (28.86).

Ross cleared 5 feet to win the high jump and went 15-5-1/2 to win the long jump ahead of Wahconah's Lily Pudlo (14-9-1/2).

Albano won the shot put (27-8) and the javelin (88-9), topping Monument's Zufan Buzzano (81-9) in the latter event.

Wahconah's Victoria Gamberoni was a double winner, taking the metric mile in 5:18.51 and the 3200 in 11:54.51, both times finishing ahead of runner-up Grace Phair of Monument Mountain.

Monument's girls got wins from Aubrey Blanchard in the 400 (1:00.57), Allison Kinne in the 400 hurdles (1:10.81) and Jasmin Johannsdottir in the 800 (2:25.13).

Both Mount Greylock's and Monument Mountain's girls defeated Wahconah.

In the boys meet, Mount Greylock earned a 76-65 win over Monument Mountain, which topped Wahconah, 85-56.

Owen Brandriss and Caleb Cimini were double-winners for the Mount Greylock boys.

Brandriss won the 800 (2:05.57) and the discus (109-8).

Cimini took the long jump (19-9-1/4) and the triple jump (37-4), edging Wahconah's Dalton Dean both times.

Monument Mountain got three wins from Jordan Piepho, who took the javelin (151-6), the shot put (37-4-1/2) and the high jump (5-6).

Wahconah's Sean Harvey swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 16.01 and the 400 in 1:03.09, a split second ahead of Monument's Dan Newey (1:03.52).
