WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Sam McLaughlin carded a 3-under-par round of 33 on the front nine at Waubeeka Golf Links on Tuesday to lead the Wahconah golf team to a 146-182 win over Mount Greylock.

McLaughlin started his day with a birdie on the first hole and went on to birdie No. 4 and No. 8 to go along with six pars on his way to earning medalist honors.

“Sammie played flawless golf tonight,” Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. “He's been close a couple of times recently and one bad hole derails a good round. Not tonight, three under is outstanding.”

Wahconah had four players score in the 30s as it stayed unbeaten this fall.

Carter Drake birdied No. 6 and No. 8 to finish at 39. Tim Kaley (36) birdied No. 4. Logan Aitken birdied the third hole. Kessler Anello, playing in the third group, rounded out Wahconah’s scoring with a 38.

“As an opposing coach, it was really enjoyable to watch that round of golf from Wahconah,” Mount Greylock coach Erik Tiele said. “That is the lowest score that I can remember here at Waubeeka. Solid play throughout their lineup, I have no doubt that is the team to beat at Western Mass and quite honestly that is a State Championship contender.”

Jacob Hillman was low for Mount Greylock with a 41 on a round that included a birdie on No. 7.
