Pickard, Viner Lead Wahconah Girls Track to Pair of Wins
DALTON, Mass. -- Hailey Pickard and Isabelle Viner each won two events Tuesday to lead the Wahconah girls track and field team to wins over Taconic and Mount Anthony.
Wahconah picked up a pair of wins in both boys meets as well behind another strong performance from Matt Lighten.
Pickard won the long jump in 13 feet, 11.25 inches and the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 52.84 seconds.
Viner won the 400 (1:06.15) and the 2-mile run (14:11.33).
Wahconah’s girls topped Taconic, 87-54, and Bennington, Vt.’s, Mount Anthony, 108-28.
Taconic’s girls scored 26 of their 54 points in the field. Libby Lobovits won the discus (82-0) and the shot put (30-6).
In the boys dual meets, Wahconah beat MAU, 94-47, and Taconic, 83-58.
Lighten won the 100 (11.16) and 200 (22.13) and anchored Wahconah’s 4-by-100 relay to a winning time of 46.52.
Wahconah’s Shea McIlquham and Jack Pudlo finished 1-2 in the long jump and then flipped positions in the triple jump. McIlquham won the long jump in 18-8, and Pudlo won the triple in 38-10.5.
Taconic hurdler Abdul Ahmed swept the 100 (17.25) and 400 (1:01.10).
