Mount Greylock Girls Dominant at Reid

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Vera DeJong led Mount Greylock’s sweep of the top 11 places on Wednesday in a five-team race at Reid Middle School.
 
DeJong crossed the finish line in 22 minutes, 34 seconds, 11 seconds ahead of her teammate, Josephine Bay.
 
The first 11 Mounties finished within 2:41 of each other as they easily swept their dual meets against Taconic and Pittsfield.
 
Pittsfield’s girls edged Wahconah by three points behind a 13th-place finish from Sophia Lamalfa, who finished 16 seconds after Wahconah’s Megan Tucker, who was 12th.
 
Tucker helped Wahconah edge Taconic in their dual.
 
Taconic’s girls were led by Shelby Tart, who placed 17th in the 62-runner field.
 
Hoosac Valley, which skipped last week’s season opener at BCC, did not score in a dual meet but did get a 27th-place finish from Reagan Shea.
 
Mount Greylock’s boys also topped Taconic and Pittsfield and also finished in a pack, taking places six through 11 with Patrick Holland leading the way in sixth.
 
Wahconah’s Noah Wesley was the first boy across the finish line and helped his team take a pair of dual meet wins. He hit the tape in 18:17, six seconds ahead of Pittsfield High’s Eric Harrington.
 
Harrington and Cohen Zahn, who placed third in 18;27, helped their team beat Pittsfield and Taconic in dual meets.
 
Taconic was led by Collin Norton in fifth place.
 
Hoosac Valley ran two boys on Wednesday. Noah Sawtelle placed 74th.
