Walsh Leads Hurricanes to 3-0 Day
SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Hannah Walsh finished third overall to lead the Hoosac Valley girls cross country team to three dual meet wins in a four-team meet at Mount Everett on Wednesday.
Walsh, Taylor Garabedian, Reagan Shea and Briannah Superneau placed third through sixth, respectively, and Aliza Rozon was 10th to give the Hurricanes the team points to beat Taconic, Lee and Mount Everett.
Lee’s girls took the top two individual places with Kira Johnson hitting the finish line in 17 minutes, 45.28 seconds, eight seconds ahead of teammate Ava Lopez.
Lee’s girls won two dual meets. Taconic also picked up a win behind Madeline Harrington, who placed seventh.
In the boys meet, Noah Krantz placed first in 14:18.49 to lead Taconic to three dominating wins.
The Thunder placed five runners in the top six with Quinn Ives, Alec Ginsberg, Elijah Harewood and Collin Norton rounding out the scoring.
Mount Everett’s Ben Vella broke up that dominance, taking second place on his home course and finishing just less than a second behind Krantz. He helped the Eagles score a dual meet win over Lee.
