Taconic Rolls into Head-to-Head with First-Place Pittsfield

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Mitch McCann and Hunter Golin Friday led the Taconic bowling team to a 3-0 win over Mount Everett as the Thunder kept pace with the leaders and set up a big showdown in the battle for the league's top two spots.
 
Friday's Week 7 matches at Cove Lanes will feature third-place Taconic (16-2) against first-place Pittsfield (18-0). Their head-to-head has the potential to shake up the league standings and determine who gets one of the coveted first-round byes in the six-team county championship tournament.
 
On Friday, McCann rolled the top game at the Cove in Week 6, a 247. Golin recorded the top series, a 235-224--459, to help Taconic beat the Eagles.
 
Taconic's Mya Duhamel led all girls on Friday with a 216 game and 432 series.
 
The day's other all-varsity match in Week 6 saw second-place Lee beat McCann Tech, 3-0.
 
The Wildcats' Aaron Armstrong had the week's second-best score (235) and second-best series (438).
 
His Lee teammate, Emily Holian, had the second-best day among the girls with a 203 game and a 365 series.
 
McCann Tech got strong performances from Michael Oakes and Meghan Mongeon. Oakes rolled a 203-194--397 that was fourth among the boys competing.
 
Mongeon's 190 game and 353 series were third among the girls in Week 6.
 
Friday's other three matches saw Pittsfield remain perfect on the season with a 3-0 win over the Lee JV.
 
Monument Mountain beat the Lee Wildcats, 2-1. And the Lee Black swept the Lee Orange to stay solidly in sixth place.
