Mount Everett's Lupiani Reaches All-State Semi-Final

SALEM, Mass. -- Mount Everett senior Bradley Lupiani on Friday advanced to the championship semi-finals at the All-State wrestling tournament at Salem High School.
 
Lupiani of the Division 3 Eagles knocked off two wrestlers from Division 2 on his road to Saturday's 132-pound semis.
 
First, Lupiani scored a major decision with an 8-0 win over Algonquin's Austin Roche. Then he picked up an 8-2 win over North Attleboro's Mike Gould in the quarter-finals.
 
Today, Lupiani will face Dracut's John Ryan, the top-seeded D2 wrestler. On Friday, Ryan had a bye into the quarter-finals, where he pinned Taunton's Keith Porazzo in 2 minutes, 37 seconds.
 
Monument Mountain's Mark Leon-Duque remains alive in the consolation bracket at 170.
 
Leon-Duque lost, 11-1, in the first round on Friday but came back to win twice in the consys: a pin of Nashoba's Brian Hefernan and a 5-2 win over Natick's Nick Tesler.
 
On Saturday in the consolation semi-finals, Leon-Duque will have a rubber match with Sabis' Kolby Smith.
 
Leon-Duque beat Smith in the Western Mass Championship final at Mount Greylock only to lose to him, 3-1, a week later in the Division 3 State Championship final.
 
Mount Greylock's Travis Hilchey (138) and Devin Pelletier (152) each went 2-2 on Friday and were eliminated after winning twice in the wrestlebacks. Hilchey ends his Mount Greylock career with 196 wins.
 
Pelletier was edged, 6-5, by Arlington's Lukas Stavropoulos in his opening match.
 
Nick Bailey (126) went 2-2 for Taconic on Friday. He won his first match in the championship bracket, dropped a 17-7 decision to the top seed from Division 1 and pinned Sabis' Jehu Barbee (3:29) before bowing out in a 7-2 decision int he consolation quarter-finals.
