Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Pick Up Dual Meet Wins at Hoosac Valley
CHESHIRE, Mass. – William Apotsos won a pair of events Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock boys track and field team to a dual meet win over Taconic.
In the girls meet, the Mounties were dominant, taking first place in all of the events on the track en route to wins over Mount Everett and host Hoosac Valley.
The Mount Greylock-Taconic boys meet was the day’s most competitive, but the Mounties came away with a 91-50 win.
Apotsos did his part by winning the 110-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Mount Greylock’s throwers also turned in a sweep with Judge Martin, Gavin Hetherington and Jenner Kittle winning the shot put, discus and javelin, respectively.
Taconic’s Elijah Harewood swept the 100 and 200 dashes.
Katherine Goss won three events for the Mount Greylock girls, sweeping the 100 and 400 hurdles and winning the triple jump by about a foot in a 1-2-3 sweep for the Mounties.
Her Mountie teammate Maggie Nichols finished first in the 100 and 200.
The Hoosac Valley girls won their only dual meet matchup in the four-team meet, beating Taconic.
The Hurricanes were anchored by their throwers. Hanna Shea, Taylor Garabedian and Abby Scialabba won the shot, discus and javelin, respectively.
