Lee Volleyball Stays Perfect With Win at Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Lee volleyball team won its 12th straight match Wednesday evening against Pittsfield in straight sets, keeping the Wildcats undefeated this fall
"We've got a lot that we still need to resolve," Lee coach Jon Warner said. "Our serve receive is not where we really want it, our offense needs a little more punch. We're missing our big middle, she'll be back soon, which will give us that much more of a threat up front."
The Wildcats ended each set at 25-14.
In the first set, Kendra Williams recorded three aces; she had 12 assists for the match and three digs as well.
In the second set, Lee gave up a few points to Pittsfield due to miscommunication and position placement, but they were able to work out the kinks to take the set.
Going into the third set, the Generals were looking to stay alive; they came out and quickly turned things around taking an 8-6 lead.
Pittsfield found a rhythm in the third set; setting up some great volleys and earning some points to keep them in an 11-10 lead, but the serve was turned over to Lee and Shenna Tyer for the Wildcats was in serving position.
Tyer brought her team from the 11-10 deficit to a 19-10 lead.
"She's so fundamentally sound, her serve is deceptively penetrating," Warner said. "It has a top spin and it also tends to knuckle ball a bit so it's a really tough serve to pass."
Tyer recorded three aces, five kills, four blocks and a dig for the game.
Courtney Picard also had six kills, six assists, and two digs for the Wildcats.
Pittsfield (5-4) hosts Wahconah on Friday, and Lee (12-0) travels to Lenox Tuesday.
