Arace Scores Twice as Millionaires Top Mount Everett
SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Allesandra Arace scored twice and added two assists to lead the Lenox girls soccer team to a 4-2 win over Mount Everett on Tuesday.
The Eagles (10-4) struck first when Madeline VonRuden scored unassisted in the eighth minute.
The Millionaires (5-4-2) scored the next three to take control.
Nicole Gamberoni tied the game midway through the first half, and Arace quickly followed with the go-ahead goal in the 22nd minute.
Taylor Knight set up Arace for a goal midway through the second half to make it 3-1.
Gwendolyn Carpenter then got Mount Everett within a goal before Abby Shilling scored with two minutes left to put the game away.
"Despite the score, our team played extremely well this game," Mount Everett coach Jess Murtagh said. "Whenever a goal was scored, it was simply due to a lack of organization on defense--a great learning opportunity.
"Again, we love playing teams like this because it makes us better. And judging by the first time we played them, Lenox didn't have a bad game -- we both had good ones."
Madison Ullrich made 14 saves in a losing cause for the Eagles, who host Taconic on Thursday.
Lenox travels to face St. Joseph on Tuesday.
