East Longmeadow Shuts Out Pittsfield Girls

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Kate Beluzo had a goal and an assist to lead the East Longmeadow girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Pittsfield on Friday evening at Berkshire Community College.

 

Both goals came in the first half.

 

Pittsfield (12-6) had a chance to cut the lead in half in the 73rd minute, but it could not convert a penalty kick opportunity.

 

"We played really well in the second half, but we did not finish on our opportunites," Pittsfield coach Andy Walusczko said. "It was  good, tournament-feel game."

 

Allie Hunt made 12 saves for Pittsfield, which will open the actual tournament next week, after Monday's announcement of the MIAA Western Mass brackets.
