As we turn the calendar to October and the temperatures start to cool down, few teams are as hot as those led by this week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Athletes of the Week.

Senior quarterback Marcus Jubrey leads a Pittsfield High School offense that is averaging more than 45 points per game in a 3-0 start to the season.

Jubrey had a monster performance in the home opener, running for 123 yards and three touchdowns and throwing for another score, against Belchertown two weeks ago.

He followed that up this week by again rushing for more than 100 yards and a pair of scores and throwing touchdown passes of 33 yards and 49 yards in a 58-34 win over perennial nemesis Wahconah under the lights at Berkshire Community College.

Pittsfield has won its first three games for the first time since 2016.

On Friday night, it begins play in the Suburban North Division on the road at South Hadley looking to avenge a four-point loss to the Tigers last year at BCC.

The McCann Tech girls soccer team also is looking to avenge a loss this week.

The Hornets opened the season with a 4-0 setback at Smith Vocational.

Since that game on Sept. 4, McCann Tech has won sixth straight heading into Monday's rematch with Smith Voc in the Hornets' Nest.

Junior Jordyn Lloyd leads McCann Tech (6-1) with 11 goals this fall, and she has five assists, giving her 2.7 points per game.

On Wednesday, she had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Hampden Charter. Two days later, she scored a goal in a hard-fought 3-1 road win at Mount Everett.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
