PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Chevelle Raifstanger and Alexandra Lawton each had a goal and an assist on Thursday to lead the Mount Everett girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Taconic in the season opener for both teams.

The Eagles also got goals from Ella Gennari and Khloe Swierczynski, and Aliyah Creamer stopped four shots to earn the shutout in goal.

“Great first game to get the feet going, we have a lot of shoes to fill from last year and girls stepped into those roles they didn't play last year or really at all,” Mount Everett coach Josh King said. “I like a lot of the situational things we did today and some of those uncomfortable moments and situations are good to experience.”

Taconic (0-1) hosts Springfield International Charter on Monday.

Mount Everett (1-0) hosts Lenox on Saturday.
