SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Shaylee Lawson scored a pair of goals Friday to lead the McCann Tech girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Mount Everett.

Lawson also had an assist for the Hornets, who got a goal from Jordyn Lloyd.

“Great win today against a good team,” McCann Tech coach Lindsay Lincoln said. “We have the momentum going right now going into a competitive game on Monday versus Smith Vocational.”

Sophia Francesconi made eight saves to earn the win in goal for the Hornets (6-1).

Aliyah Creamer converted a second-half penalty kick for the Eagles.
“We came out very flat today to start and unfortunately didn't play to our potential,” Mount Everett coach Josh King said. “We didn't clear a 50/50 ball and then got outhustled on the defensive side for McCanns' first goal. Even with us chasing though in the first half I felt like we had played the majority of the half in their end and seemed to have more opportunities just couldn't get the girls in the right positions at the right time.”

Mount Everett (4-5) hosts Smith Academy on Tuesday.
