PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Kyle Cardoso had a hat trick Friday to lead the Pittsfield boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over Monument Mountain at Berkshire Community College.

He opened the scoring with an unassisted goal that gave the Generals a 1-0 half-time lead.

Monument Mountain leveled the score to start the second half when Oliver Curtis scored with an assist from Hudson Manzolini.

Cardoso scored again, this time with an assist from Daniel Mosquera, to give PHS a 2-1 lead.

But the Spartans got another equalizer when Manzolini converted an assist from Milo Potoski.

Cardoso scored his third of the match on a penalty kick in the final minute to provide the final margin of victory and give the Generals their third straight win.

“Pittsfield vs Monument Mountain was a grueler,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “Both teams fought to the last minute.”

Connor Devine stopped seven shots to earn the win in goal.

Pittsfield (7-1-2) goes to Mount Greylock on Monday.

Monument Mountain (1-6-3) hosts Pope Francis on Monday.
