PITTSFIELD, Mass. — For the first 37 minutes of the game, Monument Mountain controlled most of it, putting the pressure on the Taconic defense but having nothing to show for it. Then in an instant Dominic Nda of Taconic took a pass from Faisal Braimah and broke free using his speed to score, and just like that it was 1-0 Taconic.

The lead did not last long as the Spartan's Eitan Kii scored unassisted a minute later. The half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Feeling like it should have more to show for its efforts, the Monument team came out with the same aggressiveness it showed to start the game. With Taconic being shorthanded due to some illnesses, they would begin to wear down and Monument took advantage of that.

In the 51st minute Nick Masiero took a pass from Curt Rathbun and made the score 2-1. Masiero tallied another in the 70th minute unassisted and Morrison scored a bit later to make it 4-1.

Taconic's goaltender made seven saves. Monument had nine corner kicks to just two for Taconic.

The Spartans next play at home against Mount Everett on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. and Taconic travels to Minnechaug on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m.
