Second-half Rally Pushes McCann Past Ware
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — In a back-and-forth game, Josh Budaj's goal in the 69th minute was enough to carry the McCann Tech boys' soccer team to a 4-3 home win over Ware on Tuesday. The Hornets (7-6) trailed 3-2 at halftime but rallied back with a pair of tallies in the second half. Sophomore Jon Leal tied the game five and half minutes after halftime on his second goal of the game. Budaj then netted the game-winner 13 minutes later to help McCann improve to 7-6 this year.
"Once again, we had nice passing and possession play," Hornets head coach Adam Kozik said. "It was a nice comeback for the win."
Senior Chad Raimer started the scoring off in the 12th minute for McCann, but the Indians quickly countered less than six minutes later on a goal by Christoper Barber. Leal got the lead back for the hosts 18 seconds later by scoring off an assist from classmate Shane Fuller, but Ware closed out the half with strikes by Darien Newman and Jeffrey Johnson.
P.J. Laliberte earned the win in goal for the Hornets, finishing with eight saves on the day. Kyle Hill, meanwhile, stopped 10 shots in net for the Indians.
