McCann Comeback Falls Short
PALMER, Mass — The McCann football team made a valiant effort to comeback from a 13-0 deficit at haltime but came up short, falling to Palmer 13-12 on Sunday afternoon at Legion Field.Senior quarterback Justin Cote lead the Hornets (2-4 Tri-County, 2-5 overall) on two big drives for touchdowns in the second half to try to get his team the lead. On the first drive Cote brought his team 70 yards down the field, finishing it off with a 10-yard touchdown pass to to classmate T.J. Therrien. With time running low in the fourth quarter Cote plunged into the endzone from two-yards out to put the Hornets down by just one point. McCann looked to take the lead on the two-point conversion try when senior John LeClair smashed into the endzone but the play was called back for offensive holding. The ensuing two-point conversion try failed when Cote's pass was knocked out of the air.
McCann heads back home to face Ludlow on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
