Angela Mary Wilk, 83

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Angela Mary Wilk, 83, of 16 Prospect St. died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on July 15, 1930, daughter of Joseph S. Lora and Patricia Magnani Lora, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School, where she played on the girl's basketball team. She moved to Williamstown in 1978. Mrs. Wilk was a beloved teacher's aide at Williamstown Elementary School for 15 years until her retirement. Before that, she worked in the business office at the former Sheraton North Adams Inn. She also assisted her husband, Arthur E. Wilk, with his political campaign for the North Adams City Council. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. An avid gardener and animal lover, she also enjoyed cooking and reading. In her younger years, she was a Girl Scout leader and was president of the former Haskins School PTA. She was a passionate Boston sports fan, especially of the Celtics and Red Sox. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and was a former longtime communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church in North Adams. Besides her husband, whom she married on May 20, 1950, she leaves a daughter, Patricia Laura Wilk of Florham Park, N.J.; a son, Dr. Arthur E. Wilk Jr. of Guilford, Conn.; four grandchildren, Ellen Wilk and Nancy Wilk, both of Boston, Matthew Flachsenhaar of Hoboken, N.J., and Katherine Flachsenhaar of Morristown, N.J., and nieces and nephews. Her brother, Joseph Lora, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Wilk will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 21, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
