Lawrence A. Burdick, 90

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Lawrence Alvin Burdick, 90, of North Adams, died early Monday morning, August 22, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lawrence was born on February 14, 1932 in Florida, MA, a son of the late Myron Lawrence and Alice Mabel (Pearson) Burdick.

Lawrence attended Florida Schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1949, where he met his wife Theresa of 67 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a medic in the US Army. Lawrence was self employed as a carpenter for most of his life, and raised his children in the many houses he built on Florida Mountain. He was a member of the Florida Baptist Church and Clarksburg VFW. He enjoyed creating beautiful acrylic paintings, square dance calling, and he was fondly known as the “turnip king”. Lawrence had an unmatched sense of dad humor, and would give hugs to anyone he encountered.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Marguerite (Lecuyer) Burdick whom he married on January 8, 1955, three sons, Kerry David Burdick and wife Laurie of Lawton, OK, Perry K Burdick of Dalton, MA, and Andrew L Burdick and wife Sherry of North Adams, MA. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Dennis Burdick, Jamie Brown, Katina Holland, Brandon Powers, Brittany Burdick, Nicole Burdick and Drew Burdick as well as fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and two sisters, Eileen Moore of Cheshire and Connie Gray of Florida, MA as well as a brother, Daniel Burdick Sr. of Florida, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Marilyn Clark, Marvin Burdick, and Eleanor Rennell.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services to celebrate the life of Lawrence Burdick will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Florida Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Florida Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to Florida Baptist Church in care of the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home- CENTRAL CHAPEL 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247. Larry was my partner at the roller skating ring in Williamstown back in the 80’s. He was such a very kind and gentle man. Every-time I ran into him he would ask me if I still had my skates. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers sent to the entire Burdick family. Hugs.
