Elaine Smith, 92

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mrs. Elaine D. (Lagess) Smith, 92, of Adams, died on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at North Adams Commons.

She was born in Adams on September 13, 1929, a daughter of the late A. Harry and Bertha (Wolanke) Lagess. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1948.

Elaine worked for the former Bieniek Electronics in Adams for 18 years as well as Elder Services of Berkshire County.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Adams.

Her husband, Carlyle “Gunner” Smith, whom she married on April 11, 1953, died on August 28, 2015.

She is survived by her brother Bruce Lagess and his wife Linda of Cheshire; her sister Barbara Lagess of Adams; three nephews, Brian Lagess and his wife Tammy of Adams, Keith Lagess amd his companion Amanda Alibozek of Adams and Evan Lagess and his wife Jessica of Washington, MA; and by three great nieces and nephews, Genevieve, Finley and Elijiah.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Robert Lagess.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 10:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
