Jeanette Burdick-O'Neil, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jeanette Arlene (Jolly) Burdick O'Neil, passed on June 10, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born on Nov. 29, 1935, at Hillcrest Hospital in Pittsfield to the late Joseph Jolly and Silvena Jolly Norman, née Martin, she attended local schools and was a member of the Drury High School class of 1953. She was a member of the Johnson School PTA, and a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader. She was also a member of the original Hairpin Turners Square Dance Club. She last worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co.

Jeanette loved spending her time watching the birds and wildlife that would visit her home. When not spending time with her loving family she would be reading and watching "General Hospital" and her favorite game shows.

Jeanette was the matriarch of the Burdick/O'Neil family and had a big hand in raising all her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and nieces and nephews alike. She attended all the plays and concerts for her 13 grandchildren, from kindergarten through college. She held dinner at her home every Sunday for a large group of family members and friends.

She leaves behind her four sons: Lawrence and Brenda Burdick, Joseph and Carol Burdick, David and Deanna Burdick, and James and Cynthia Burdick, all of North Adams, and three daughters: Virginia and William Barlow, and Sheila and John Martell, all of North Adams, and Sharon O'Neil and Andrew Kessler of Bethlehem, Pa. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Jason, Daniel, Derek, Melissa, Jamie, Cassandra, Amber, Stephanie, Felicia, Joey, Adam, Emily, and Brice, and 11 great-grandchildren: Braelyn, Caleb, Jacoby, Paige, Lennox, Dante, Ellie, Mila, Jonas, Asher, and Reese in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that became part of her large family.

She was predeceased by both of her husbands, Ralph O. Burdick and James F. O'Neil, as well as her brothers John, Roy and Albert Norman and a sister, Carol (Norman) Vallieres.

She will be remembered for welcoming anyone into her large family and showing endless love to everyone.

To Arlene’s family, My deepest sympathy on the loss of Arlene, as I knew her. She was asked to help my mother after surgery in the early 1950’s. What a wonderful, caring & loving lady. Each time I would meet her over the years she always greeted me with a beautiful loving smile & we would chat about all the fond memories. I will miss seeing her around town. Rest In Peace now Arlene for all the good you did for everyone ♥️
