DANCE EDUCATION LABORATORY AT JACOB’S PILLOW: SOCIAL TANGO PROJECT
Becket, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
An interactive and embodied workshop that uses multiple lenses to explore the dynamic dance form of tango as participants learn to consider how to bring tango into the dance classroom in a culturally sustaining way.
 

Workshop registrants will receive a 20 percent discount to the same-day matinee performance of The Royal Ballet or Social Tango Project in the Ted Shawn Theatre, subject to ticket availability. Cost is $49; more information at community@jacobspillow.org.

MOVEMENT LAB: A WORKSHOP IN PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Great Barrington, 10 to 3

Berkshire Pulse is offering a weeklong dance intensive with morning classes focusing on technique and skills followed by an afternoon of process. Isadora Wolfe and Joe Poulson will be lead the company through tasks involving dynamic phrases, improvisation and mini-modules using contemporary, contact and physical theater practices. Cost is $400 with tuition assistance available.

SPARE PARTS AND JON GREENE AT LENOX CONTRA DANCE
Lenox, 7:15 pm

Our next dance is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th, with music by Spare Parts - Liz Stell (flute), Bill Matthiesen (keyboard), Mark Murphy (bass), Eric Buddington (fiddle), with caller Jon Greene. Roles will be Larks and Robins.

Note that due to construction at the Lenox Community Center, we will not be having a July Dance this year.

Come join us contra dancing to live music. We have a different band and caller each month. Dances are held on Third Saturday nights in Lenox, Massachusetts in the Lenox Community Center, at 65 Walker Street. Experience the pleasure of dancing on a beautiful wood floor, in a high-ceiling second floor (handicap accessible) ballroom with a raised stage.

Admission is $12-15 for adults and $8-10 for students. New Dancers - 2nd dance free!

Dances begin with a 15 minute beginner introduction at 7:15 followed by dancing from 7:30 to 10:30. Refreshments are offered during the social break from dancing. All the dances are taught. No partner necessary. Come alone or bring friends.

Please do not come to a dance if you have any symptoms or recently tested positive for COVID-19 or were in close contact with someone who recently tested positive.
