Under a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant to the Lanesborough Public Library, professional storyteller, Mary Jo Danckert Maichack, will lead a four-part workshop in memoir writing in the Lanesborough Town Hall Community Room. Adults of any experience level may attend any number of the events. Writing prompts from literature will serve as models of strong memoir writing. Want to Preserve Your Memories? Come to this Engaging & Fun Workshop for Adults. Have you wanted to create your memoir and leave a record of your life, but haven’t found a way to get started? This workshop can help you! Using memoirs from writers past and present, professional storyteller Mary Jo Danckert Maichack gives you prompts for jogging important memories and events from your life so you can get into a writing flow. Interesting questions get your heart remembering and your hand writing. Easy, fun, totally non-judgmental, invaluable—as only you really know your life story. What a gift to leave for others! Free & Open to the Public. No registration required, but please plan to attend all 4 sessions! Tuesday afternoons, 1 - 2:30 pm. Oct. 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 12th, 2024 Lanesborough Town Hall Community Room, 83 North Main St Lanesborough. STORYTELLING IN THE BERKSHIRES

Local authors Jim and Karen Shepard will read short selections from the fiction of literary luminaries who have read their work in Williamstown over the years. This will be followed by a conversation about what it’s like for authors in today’s literary climate and a Q & A. This event, part of the Williamstown Library’s 150th anniversary year, is free to the public and will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Milne Public Library, 1095 Main Street in Williamstown.
