Wahconah Upends Frontier in Western Mass Semis

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. – After dropping the first set, the third-seeded Wahconah volleyball team Thursday rallied for a four-set win over Frontier in the Western Massachusetts Class B semi-finals.
 
Megan O’Bryan and Eve Colombari each had a double-double in the 18-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-20 win that sends Wahconah (13-7) into Saturday morning’s regional final against Baystate Academy at Chicopee Comprehensive.
 
O’Bryan put down 11 kills and pulled up 12 digs. Colombari passed out 30 assists and finished with 12 digs.
 
Taea Cunagin and Emma Jacinto paced the defense with 18 digs and four blocks, respectively. They also had nine kills and eight kills, respectively.
 
And Cunagin recorded four aces on a night when serving was key for Wahconah.
 
“Wahconah had a solid serving performance and was strong defensively,” coach Dave Lussier said. “There were many long rally’s with an outstanding Frontier team. This was the first meeting of the two teams since a Wahconah loss in the 2010 Western Mass finals. We are truly humbled to have won against this storied program.”
