MassDOT Advisory: South County Overnight Construction Operations

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that crews will be performing nighttime paving, guardrail, and bridge repair operations along I-90 eastbound and westbound from Monday night, Sept. 30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3. 
 
All work will conclude by 6:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
 
Lane closures will be in effect, and traffic will be allowed through the work zones. The schedule for the work and lane closures is as follows:
 
Otis/Blandford
Paving operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 24.0 to 27.0, Monday night, Sept. 30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night, with work concluding by 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4.
 
Bridge work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 22.5, Monday night, Sept. 30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4.
 
Lee
Bridge work will be conducted on I-90 westbound from mile marker 8.1 to 8.4, Monday night, Sept.  30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4.
 
Stockbridge/West Stockbridge
Bridge repair work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 1.0 to 3.0, Monday night, Sept.  30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4
 
Guardrail work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 5.5 to 7.0, Monday night, Sept.  30, through Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4.
 
West Stockbridge
Bridge repair work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound at mile marker 1.3, Monday night, Sept. 30, and Tuesday night, Oct. 1, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. both nights, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Oct. 2.
 
Stockbridge
Bridge repair work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound at mile marker 6.4, Wednesday night, Oct. 2, and Thursday night, Oct. 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. both nights, with work concluding by 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct. 4.
 
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
 
Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
 
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

Scooter Driver Killed in Hit & Run in Stockbridge

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — A man using a scooter was struck and killed Saturday by a hit-and-run driver. 
 
The victim, whose name has not been released, was found lying on the side of road nearly mile marker 4.1 on Route 102. A motorist driving by called 911 at 6:44 a.m. to report seeing someone on the road. 
 
Emergency responders found him unresponsive and he was pronounced dead shortly after by a paramedic from Lee Ambulance. 
 
Based on evidence recovered from the scene, including parts of a car, it appears this is a hit and run incident, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. Evidence collection thus far shows the victim was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle that struck the victim fled from the scene. 
 
Immediate emergency response included the Stockbridge Police Department; Stockbridge Fire and emergency medical service and Lee Ambulance. State Police investigators and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded.
