MCLA Baseball, Softball Fall on Florida Trip

NAPLES, Fla. -- Hoosac Valley graduate Abby Bird drove in a pair of runs for MCLA Saturday in a 4-2 loss to St. Joseph of Connecticut.
 
MCLA's Lora Woyton went 5-2/3 innings in the circule, striking out five and allowing no runs.
 
Earlier in the day, MCLA dropped a 6-2 decision to Western Connecticut.
 
Ella Staffier went 2-for-3 with a double, and Sarah Williams went seven innings in the circle.
 
The Trailblaazers (0-2) plays Alfred State and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Sunday.
 
Baseball
SANFORD, Fla. -- Ty Mazzeo went 2-for-3 for MCLA in a 9-6 loss to Maine-Farmington.
 
MCLA (2-3) plays Webster on Monday.

Anderson Leads SteepleCats Past Danbury

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Aedan Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double Friday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 12-8 win over Danbury, Conn., Westerners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
 
The SteepleCats broke a 7-7 tie with a five-run seventh inning on the way to breaking a 13-game losing streak in front of their home fans at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Monument Mountain's Jayder Raifstanger went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, and Taconic's Sam Sherman also was 1-for-5 at the plate for North Adams.
 
Owen Fox earned the win on the mound with 2 and two-thirds innings of work in relief.
 
North Adams (13-26) travels to Holyoke on Saturday for a double-header against the Valley Blue Sox.
