ROCHESTER, N.H. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Stars Sunday beat Stamford, Conn., 10-5, to win their pool and clinch a spot in the New England Regional semi-finals.
Sebastien Herrera, Sam Gyurjan and Robby Bazinet each had two hits for Pittsfield, which jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back in finishing pool play with a record of 3-0.
Bazinet also threw two scoreless innings for Pittsfield, which spread the pitching load over five different arms.
Mason Daley went 2 and two-thirds innings on the bump, allowing two hits and one run.
By virtue of the win, Pittsfield gets Monday off and awaits the winner of one of Monday's two regional quarter-finals between second- and third-place finishers in the tournament's two four-team pools.
