Koperniak Hits Walkoff Homer for Triple-A Squad

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Hoosac Valley graduate Matt Koperniak Saturday hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th to give the Memphis Redbirds a 3-1 win over the Gwinnett Stripers in the Triple-A International League.
 
In his fourth game after getting called up from the Double-A Springfield, Mo., Cardinals, Koperniak hit his first homer of the season at the AAA level to help the Redbirds improve to 25-19 this season.
 
Koperniak has five hits in 15 at-bats for Memphis.
 
His game-winning home run came with two outs.
 
Koperniak played 33 games for Double-A Springfield this season. He hit .320 with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
 
In his third year in the minor leagues, the St. Louis Cardinals prospect is hitting .302 with 26 home runs and 41 doubles.
 
Memphis plays Gwinnett again on Sunday afternoon.

Park Street Paving Set This Week

ADAMS, Mass. — Be prepared for detours and delays this week as the repaving of Park Street is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, and Wednesday, Aug. 7.  
 
Repaving will occur between the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail crossing near the post office north to East Maple Street.
 
During this time, there will be no on-street parking within the project area, however, sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians. 
 
While repaving is underway, there will be a detour for northbound vehicle traffic along Myrtle, Pleasant and Depot Streets. Southbound traffic will remain on Park Street. 
 
Public parking is available at the Adams Visitor Center lot at 3 Hoosac St. and at the Armory Court lot adjacent to the Rail Trail and Pleasant Street. All metered parking will be free during the construction.
