Town Manager Robert Menicocci presented the Fin Comm with a preliminary budget of $24.8 million for FY25, up 4 percent from the $23.9 million spending plan for the current fiscal year.
The budget also allocates $68 million to continue Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) grants to stabilize the state's child care providers through the end of the fiscal year, and $130 million?to create an offramp?from?the?federal?extra?Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program?(SNAP),?a benefit that the federal government began providing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In February and March the Selectboard and Finance Committee hold a series of FY24 budget planning sessions, and the public is invited to attend in-person at Town Hall, or via Zoom.
The bill proposes $85 million to support the Emergency Assistance program and other necessary services for eligible families in need of emergency shelter in the Commonwealth.
Based on projected increases from level-staffing and increased supply costs, the district is projecting a 3.4 percent increase in its gross operating and capital budget for FY24.
