NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury football team cruised to an easy 57-0 win over Smith Vocational at home on Saturday afternoon.

It was a fast start to the game for Drury (4-1), who jumped on their opponent early and often. The game started with a quick three-and-out that resulted in a nice punt return by Louis Guillotte that eventually set up a Dante Woodson touchdown run from 9 yards out. On the ensuing drive for Smith Voc (0-5) Guillotte made his presence felt again with a nice interception giving the Blue Devils excellent field position once again. This time he was able to finish the drive off with a 5 yard run for the score.

Drury’s offense wasn’t the only thing rolling in this game as the defense had success stopping Smith Voc with timely turnovers. Drury had four forced turnovers in the first half, two fumbles and two interceptions.

“Turnovers are huge, We feed of of them and it usually gives us a shorter field," Drury coach Al Marceau said. "It gives us a better ability with what we run offensively to punch it in and that is a big difference.”

One of the more interesting plays you’ll see came on Drury’s next touchdown. After getting multiple penalties they saw themselves in a third-and-long situation, forcing them to dig into their bag of plays. Dante Woodson received a pitch from quarterback Keegan Vidal and immediately looked down field to Anthony Pettengill who made an nice catch over the defense and ran it all the way in for a 67-yard touchdown. Drury tacked on a few more touchdowns in the half giving them a comfortable 43-0 lead.

It was a well spread out attack for Drury getting two touchdowns from Dante Woodson, Louis Guillotte, and Anthony Pettengill along with two throwing touchdowns from Keegan Vidal. It was exactly what coach Marceau was looking for after last week's game.

“We stressed [a strong start[ this week," Marceau said. "We got off the bus last week and were weren’t ready to play. We hammered that it doesn’t matter who you play you have to improve every week because they are only going to get tougher. I thought we came out ready to play and had good focus. We hung on to the ball this week which was a problem last week so I was happy with our effort.”

Drury will take on Athol next week under the lights at Mount Greylock on Friday in hopes to improve their winning streak.

Smith Voc will get a week off to regroup and get some players healthy before their game against Pathfinder.
