WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock football team fell to South Hadley Friday evening, 42-12, on John T. Allen Field.
The Tigers opened the scoring after seven plays off a 24-yard run from Ryan Mooney. Soon after quarterback Joe Allard threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Griffin Fitzell to put South Hadley ahead, 14-0, going into the second quarter.
Greylock got on board in the second off of a 17-yard touchdown run from sophomore running back Patrick Storie, who ran for 215 yards for the night.
With 4 minutes remaining in the quarter, South Hadley’s Andrew Piquette ran for a 64-yard touchdown up the sideline, putting the score at 22-6.
The Tigers ran one more in before half to give them the 30-6 lead.
The Mounties came out in the second half striking first. Storie ran for 27 yards off the handoff from junior quarterback Brodie Altiere, cutting the deficit to 30-12.
But with 5:17 on the clock, South Hadley ran for a 71-yard touchdown, putting the score at 36-12. The Tigers converted a Greylock fumble in the final two minutes for a final of 42-12.
The Mounties will take on Lee next Friday at 7 p.m. in Lee.
