Wahconah Finishes Perfect Regular Season

DALTON, Mass. -- The undefeated Wahconah High School football team shutout Mount Greylock Friday evening, 34-0.
 
Wahconah’s first touchdown came with 3 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Nick Clayton completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to senior Ryan Washburn, who then made it an 8-0 game with the two-point conversion.
 
In the second quarter, Wahconah completed two plays to go up 22-0 going into half-time.
 
The first came off a drive up the middle from junior Tyler Cataldi. Cataldi was able to find a hole in Mount Greylock’s defense, putting the score at 16-0 after the two-point conversion pass to Washburn was complete.
 
With 1:17 left in the half, Quinn Caesar ran into the end zone from 32 yards out.
 
In the third, Clayton was good for another 38-yard touchdown pass; this time to junior Cole Morrison.
 
Mount Greylock had a chance late in the fourth quarter to get on the board after quarterback Brodie Altiere completed a pass to Jesse Dielgo for a first down. Altiere attempted a 30-yard pass to Dilego in the end zone which was incomplete, but Wahconah was flagged for interference bringing Mount Greylock to the 13-yard line. 
 
Wahconah defense was able to stop the Mounties and take over on downs.
 
On the final play of the game, Wahconah’s Mitch Ellsworth ran the ball in to make it a 34-0 final.
