DALTON, Mass. – Senior Quinn Caesar and junior Nick Cataldi combined for 113 rushing yards and four touchdowns apiece as the Wahconah football team rolled to a 50-20 victory over visiting Taconic on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Nick Clayton also chipped in with two passing touchdowns as he connected with classmate Ryan Washburn with a bullet pass on their first play of the second half for a 12-yard touchdown.
Then on Wahconah's next possession, he found junior Evan Garvey on a wheel route down the left sideline for a 15-yard score. Clayton finished the game with eight completions of 13 attempts for 100 yards and the two touchdowns.
After punting on its first offensive drive of the game, Wahconah scored a touchdown on its next three possessions. The first on a 9-yard run by Caesar, the second on a 1-yard plunge by Cataldi and third another 9-yard run by Caesar. All three touchdowns came in the first quarter.
Cataldi's touchdown was set up on the one-yard line after a beautiful 35-yard pass down the right side to Washburn from Clayton. Wahconah's first touchdown came after Taconic fumbled on their third play of the game, giving the home team the ball deep in Taconic territory at the 14.
With the win, Wahconah remains unbeaten on the season at 7-0. It will finish its regular season off next Friday night when it hosts Mount Greylock at 7 p.m.
Taconic will look to bounce back on Friday night when it face city rival Pittsfield at Wahconah Park.
