DALTON, Mass. -- Lily Pudlo scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Wahconah girls basketball team to a 41-29 opening night win over Lee on Friday night.
Maddie Sprague grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with eight points, and Ashley Zink chipped in eight to help make a winner of new Wahconah coach Liz Kay.
"It was ugly but effective," Kay said. This was not the prettiest start of the season, but a very good defensive effort helped get the job done."
Alyssa Kelly scored nine to lead the Wildcats (0-1), who got seven from Brianna Hawley.
Wahconah hosts Lenox on Monday night, while Lee hosts Hoosac Valley.
