NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Anika Helmke scored six of her team-high 10 points in the first quarter to help the Monument Mountain girls basketball team jump out to an early lead en route to a 49-38 win over Drury on Saturday night.
Sarah Sullivan and Addie McLoughlin each scored nine for the Spartans (11-4).
Monument took a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and held off a Blue Devils comeback bid in the fourth when Drury (5-10) outscored the visitors by a margin of 15-9.
Jenna Moulton scored a game-high 20 points for Drury, which got eight points from Molly Moulton.
Drury hosts Pittsfield on Monday night.
Monument hosts Taconic on Monday.
