The Lady Canes lost their first game of the year in the KSA Tourney at the ESPN sports complex in Orlando, FL to Ohio Divsion 1 powerhouse Austintown Fitch 53 - 40. The Lady Falcons from Youngstown are ranked #7 in the state of Ohio and are 9 - 0. They feature Division 1 signee 5'10" point guard Megan Sefcik (who has signed a letter of intent with the University of Akron. The Lady Canes were right there in this nip and tuck battle trailing only 25 -23 at the half. After taking a brief lead in the 3rd quarter the Lady Canes fell behind at the end of three 38 - 32. It was 42 - 40 with about two minutes to play and Sefcik had a big steal and finish and then the Falcons hit a three to go up 7 and the Lady Canes were forced to foul. The Lady Falcons went 6 for 6 down the stretch.
Overall the entire trip was a great experience for the Lady Canes getting to play to teams from other states and a powerhouse among one of them. Jenn Gale led the Lady Canes with 10 points and Megan Sefcik led the Lady Falcons with 16.
