GRANBY, Mass. – Gianna Carlino scored 18 points, including two clutch free throws in the final minute, to lead the Lee girls basketball team to a 51-48 win over Granby on Thursday night.
With the win, Lee (10-5) qualified for the Division 5 State Tournament with its sixth victory in a row.
“We got some clutch free-throw shooting late in the fourth quarter, going five of six from the line,” Lee coach Rick Puleri said. “Kenzie Garrity went 3-for-4 in the last two minutes, and Gianna Carlino made two free throws and a tie game with 41 seconds left in the fourth. Giana had a great game, giving us a very good spark coming in off the bench in the first quarter and played her best game yet.”
Mika Diller scored nine points in the win. Mia Puleri and Garrity added nine and eight, respectively.
“I’m just super proud of the entire team,” Puleri said. “They continue to work hard and keep improving every day. A great team win.”
Lee is home on Saturday afternoon to take on Lenox.
