SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Emma Goewey scored 12 points, and the Mount Everett girls basketball team held McCann Tech scoreless in the first quarter en route to a 36-31 win on Monday night.
"We had a couple scary moments tonight but, in the end the girls were able to pull out a win, which is nice," Mount Everett coach Josh King said. "They easily could have stopped playing and hung their heads, but they found a way to get the job done and I was proud of the effort. Both teams played extremely hard tonight and neither one should hang their heads."
Hudah Ngoy Nkulu scored nine points, and Maggy Sarnacki added eight for the Eagles.
McCann Tech was led by Macey Tatro with 10 points. Hannah Boisvert and Taylor Paree added nine and eight, respectively.
The Hornets (3-5) are at Pope Francis on Friday.
Mount Everett (3-7) hosts Easthampton on Thursday.
