SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Emma Puleri scored 15 points, and the Lee girls basketball team jumped out to an 11-point first-quarter lead en route to a season-opening 42-28 win over Mount Everett on Thursday night.
Brianna Kelly scored 10 points, and Caroline Maloney added eight for the Wildcats, who led, 17-6, after eight minutes of play.
“After the first quarter, we settled down a little bit and started playing a better game of basketball,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “The girls very easily could have folded up after that first quarter and stopped playing, but they continued to work hard, which is always a positive.”
Emma Goewey scored 16 points to lead Mount Everett (1-2), which goes to Mount Everett on Tuesday.
Lee (1-0) hosts Renaissance on Tuesday.
