LUDLOW, Mass. – The Drury girls basketball team got balanced scoring and solid defense in a 37-27 win at Ludlow on Friday night.
Maddison Houghtaling, Hannah LaCasse and Danielle Harnick each scored six points for the Blue Devils, who won despite missing two key regulars, Kayla McGrath and Lauren Davis.
“We needed someone to step up,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “I thought Maddie Houghtaling stepped up her game on the offensive end, Jacinta Felix showed a lot of poise for just her fifth game. I don’t think I took her out tonight. And Hannah LaCasse came off the bench and hit some huge shots for us.”
LaCasse got her six points on a pair of 3-pointers. Houghtaling went 4-for-4 at the foul line int he third quarter.
“We are in a tough spot right now but as I told them before the game, no one is going to feel sorry for us,” Downey said. “Every team is going to have some form of adversity throughout the year. It might not have been pretty tonight but the bottom line is we got the win, on the road, second of a back-to-back game and missing key players.”
Drury (5-2) hosts Lee on Monday.
