GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Natalie Lewis scored 15 points Friday to lead the Monument Mountain girls basketball team to a 49-29 win over Mount Greylock.
But it was a team effort that got the Spartans their second win in a row.
“Defense won the game,” Monument Mountain coach John Perreault said.
The Spartans are allowing just 24 points per game in their only two games of 2022.
They gave up just four points in the first quarter on Friday night and just 10 points in the first half.
Meanwhile, Monument Mountain’s offense generated 18 points in the second quarter to build a 23-10 half-time lead.
Mia Wade scored four points in that second quarter, which also saw Lenah Helmke hit a 3-pointer on her way to a seven-point night.
Abby Dohoney scored six, and Elee Hull had five in the win.
Tessa Leveque scored nine to lead Mount Greylock (1-5), which hosts Ludlow on Tuesday.
Monument Mountain (4-2) is at Agawam on Tuesday.
