CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Wahconah girls basketball team Tuesday earned its fourth win of the year against Hoosac Valley.
But this one was the kind of fight the rivals have been used to over the past few years.
After winning the first three meetings by at least 20 points, Wahconah emerged on Tuesday with a 41-35 win in the season series finale.
Maria Gamberoni knocked down a 3-pointer with 1 minute, 30 left in regulation to open up a six-point cushion, and neither team's defense gave up a point the rest of the way.
Gamberoni finished with a game-high 19 points, and Noelle Furlong scored eight for Wahconah.
Alyssa Garabedian played well in the paint and led the Hurricanes with 11 points. Three Hoosac players scored six apiece: Annie Canales, Rylynn Witek and Averie McGrath.
Wahconah (13-0) goes to Drury on Wednesday.
Hoosac Valley (7-4) hosts Lee on Thursday.
