CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Katie Haselton scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds Saturday to lead the Greenfield girls basketball team to a 52-38 win over Drury at the Coaches Vs. Cancer Showcase at Hoosac Valley.
The Green Wave rolled to a 12-point lead with a 17-3 second quarter and never looked back in dropping the Blue Devils to 4-8 this winter.
Drury capped a back-and-forth first quarter when Mackenzie Dobbert's prayer was answered at the buzzer to give her team a 12-10 lead.
But Greenfield stormed out of the break with a 12-0 run.
It started with a 3-pointer by Bryanna Rivera and ended when Lillia Kachelmeyer (eight points) scored in transition to make it 22-12.
An 11-2 run for Greenfield coming out of the locker room pushed the lead to 38-17 and ended all hopes for a Drury comeback.
The Blue Devils continued to fight throughout the second half, going for every loose ball and getting four second-half steals and five second-half rebounds from Kayla McGrath (game-high 14 points).
But Drury struggled all afternoon at the offensive end scoring less than 40 points for the fourth time this season.
Alison Felix scored 11, and Maddison Houghtaling added eight -- all in the fourth quarter.
Drury hosts Lee on Tuesday as each team looks to bounce back from a loss at the showcase.
