NORTHFIELD, Mass. -- Kaylee Tatro scored 17 points, and the McCann Tech girls basketball team overcame a six-point half-time deficit by holding Pioneer Valley to 14 second-half-points in a 43-36 win on Wednesday.
“Tonight we played hard and resilient,” McCann Tech coach Kathy Budaj said. “The girls played hard, relentless defense and just kept plugging away. We missed several layups in the first half and their patience and composure paid off in the second half.
“Kaylee Tatro's perseverance paid off and she helped spark a great second half.”
Tatro scored 14 points in the second half, going 5-for-8 at the foul line in the process.
Aubrey Tetlow scored 11, and Izzy LaCasse had 10 for the Hornets.
Paige Loughman and Olivia Rowe each scored 11 for Pioneer.
McCann Tech (1-0) goes to Lee on Friday.
