CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Jasmine Maldonado Monday scored 23 points to lead the Pope Francis girls basketball team to a 52-48 win over McCann Tech.

 

“Tonight we dug a hole,” McCann Tech coach Kathy Budaj said. “We were down by 20 and came back and pulled it to three, but we ran out of time.

 

“We had too many turnovers in the second and third quarters. We did not do well at the free throw line, which didn't help. I am proud of the way they fought back.”

 

Izzy LaCasse scored 21 to lead McCann Tech, which got eight points from Kaylee Tatro.

 

The Hornets (11-8) host Mohawk next Monday in their season finale.
