NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Fiona Horan scored 33 points, and the Monument Mountain girls basketball team Tuesday held off a furious Drury comeback bid to take a 65-60 win in the season opener for both teams.
Drury’s Hayley Shook scored eight points in the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils outscored their guests, 27-19, in the final eight minutes.
Shook finished with 14, and Brooke DiGennaro had 15 for Drury.
Horan was a consistent force throughout the game, scoring at least six points per quarter before fouling out.
Destiny Brown and Meri Powell backed up Horan with 17 and 10 points, respectively.
Monument Mountain (1-0) goes to Lenox on Friday.
Drury (0-1) hosts Holyoke’s Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter on Thursday.
