CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Grace Towler scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help the McCann Tech girls basketball team earn a 35-28 win over Pope Francis on Thursday night.
Towler hit two 3-pointers in the final eight minutes en route to a 13-point night.
Kaylee Tatro had a game-high 17 for the Hornets (3-1).
McCann Tech came out of the gates slow, trailing 10-5 early, but took a 15-14 lead into the locker room. In the third, Pope Francis came back to take a two-point lead.
“Tonight was a very exciting game,” McCann Tech coach Kathy Budaj said. “Early on, we were rushing our offense and did not take great shots. Second half, we settled down and were patient which led to the higher percentage shots. Grace Towler hit two 3-pointers in a row to help open it up.”
Natalie Diesz scored four for McCann, which is off until it hosts Mount Everett next Friday.
